1

In a pot, bring 5 cups of water to a boil.

2

Add barley and pandan leaves. Simmer on medium-low heat for about 25–30 minutes, or until barley is soft and cooked through.

3

In a separate pot, boil water and cook sago until translucent. Strain and rinse the cooked sago under cold water to remove excess starch.

4

Add cooked sago to the barley pot.

5

Stir in sugar and salt. Simmer for another 5 minutes.

6

Lower the heat and add coconut milk. Stir gently and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes. Do not boil coconut milk on high heat to prevent curdling.

7

Serve warm or chilled. Add extra coconut milk or drizzle of palm sugar syrup before serving if desired.
