Let the cooked meat cool before starting on the crust.
Add 4 cups of sifted flour to a mixing bowl.
Add 1.5 teaspoons of salt to the flour.
Add 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon of sugar to the mixture.
Add 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder to the flour mixture.
Add 4 teaspoons of yellow coloring powder and whisk to combine.
Add 1/4 cup of butter flavored shortening to the flour mixture.
Cut the shortening into the flour using your hands or a fork until the pieces are large.
Add the grated beef suet to the mixture and toss to combine.
In a separate bowl, combine 2/3 cup of iced water, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 1 egg; whisk together.
Incorporate the liquid mixture into the flour mixture gently until it comes together without overworking it.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface, making it as flat as possible.
Fold the rolled dough about 5 or 6 times to create layers for flakiness.
Shape the dough into an oblong circle.
Place a heaping tablespoon of filling in the upper center of the dough.
Fold the crust over the filling and crimp the edges gently to seal without piercing the crust.
Trim the edges of the patty to shape it nicely.
Prepare a baking sheet and place the patties on it.
Bake the patties in the oven for about 25 to 30 minutes.
