pork shoulder

🥗Healthier: pork tenderloin

💰Cheaper: chicken thighs

beef broth

🥗Healthier: vegetable broth

💰Cheaper: water + bouillon cubes

Vegetable broth is lower in calories, while bouillon is a cost-effective alternative.

1

Slice the pork shoulder to allow seasoning to penetrate and cook faster.

2

Season the pork with salt, JK seasoning, paprika, cajun seasoning, lemon pepper, green seasoning blend, garlic, onion, and peppers.

3

Add a tip of browning sauce for color and some pimento seeds and ginger; rub the seasoning into the pork, getting it into the cuts.

4

Allow the pork to marinate for at least 1 hour.

5

In a thick Dutch pot, add cooking oil and sugar to caramelize the sugar until it foams.

6

Once foaming, add the marinated pork to the pot to sear on both sides for color.

7

Add a small amount of water to the pot, ensuring it roasts rather than boils.

8

Cover the pot and cook on the lowest heat, checking occasionally and flipping the pork as needed.

9

When the liquid dries out, add a tad bit more water to continue cooking.

10

Cook until the meat is tender, roughly 45 minutes.

11

Slice the pork and serve.
