Their powdery appearance and rich, buttery flavor symbolize warmth and celebration. Today, these cookies have gained popularity worldwide, with variations including different nuts and flavorings, making them a delightful addition to any cookie platter.

Coconut oil offers a dairy-free option while maintaining texture.

Sunflower seeds provide crunch and nutrition without allergens.
Put 1 cup of butter in a bowl.
Sift in 1/2 cup of powdered sugar to the butter to avoid lumps.
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 2 teaspoons of almond extract to the mixture.
Mix everything together using a hand mixer for about a minute until light and fluffy.
Add chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, or walnuts) to the mixture.
Add 2 1/4 cups of Bob's Red Mill gluten free 1 to 1 baking flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Stir the mixture starting low and then increase to a higher setting until combined.
Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet.
Bake at 400°F for about 10 to 12 minutes, checking as they may take up to 20 minutes due to the gluten-free flour.
Once baked, let the cookies cool for about 5 to 10 minutes before dipping them in powdered sugar.
Dunk the warm cookies in powdered sugar to help it stick, then place them on a plate.
Sprinkle additional powdered sugar on top of the cookies while they are still warm.
