1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
400 ml coconut milk
400 ml water
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon ghee
1 leek
1 small onion
300 ml boiling water
1 tablespoon chili oil

Add 250 grams of washed red lentils to a pot.

Stir in 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of ground cumin.

Pour in 400 ml of coconut milk and 400 ml of water; mix well.

Cook for 10 to 12 minutes.

While the Dal is cooking, thinly slice one leek and one small onion.

In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and 1 teaspoon of ghee over medium heat.

Add the sliced leek and onion; cook for 5 to 6 minutes until soft.

After 7 to 8 minutes, add another 300 ml of boiling water to the Dal if needed.

After 15 minutes, check the Dal for consistency; it should be broken up and not intact.

Finish the leeks with a sprinkling of salt and 1 tablespoon of chili oil.

Combine the cooked leeks and onions with the Dal; mix well.
