1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 beaten egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1 medium Granny Smith apple
1 tablespoon sugar
a dash of ground cloves

Spray a 9-inch round pan with cooking spray.

In a bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 2 teaspoons of baking powder.

Cut 1 stick (8 tablespoons) of butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Whisk in 2/3 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg into the flour and butter mixture.

Make a well in the center of the mixture.

Add 1 beaten egg, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and 1/2 cup milk into the well and mix until the dough resembles scone dough.
