Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, then sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
Layer cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture and a layer of mozzarella cheese.
Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and a generous topping of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
