Fatia Húngara, or Hungarian Slice, is a beloved dish in Brazil, reflecting the influence of Eastern European cuisine on Brazilian gastronomy. Traditionally enjoyed in family gatherings, it combines hearty ingredients like beef and vegetables, embodying comfort and warmth. This dish has adapted over time, with variations that include different meats and spices, making it a versatile favorite.

Nutritional yeast is lower in calories, while cream cheese can be a budget-friendly option.
Mix 5 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dry yeast, and 1 cup of warm milk in a bowl.
Add 1/2 cup of oil, 1 whole egg, and a pinch of salt to the mixture.
Gradually add 4 cups of flour, mixing until the dough is smooth and not sticky.
Let the dough rest for 30-40 minutes until it doubles in size.
Prepare the filling by mixing 1 cup of sweetened shredded coconut, 1 cup of sugar, and 4 tablespoons of butter until crumbly.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and spread the filling evenly on top.
Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices about 2 fingers thick.
Grease a baking dish (35x25x4.5 cm) with butter and flour, and place the slices inside.
Cover and let the dough rise for another 15 minutes.
Mix 1 egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of milk and brush over the top of the slices for shine.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40-45 minutes.
Prepare a sauce with 1 jar of coconut milk and 1/2 can of condensed milk, mixing to desired sweetness.
Pour the sauce over the warm slices and sprinkle with shredded coconut.
