Traditionally served at celebrations, this trifle version allows for easy serving and sharing, making it a popular choice for parties and gatherings.

Cacao nibs offer health benefits with less sweetness.
In a saucepan, add 4 cups of granulated sugar and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch and whisk together.
Add 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 1/2 cup of milk to the mixture.
Turn the heat to medium-low and cook the mixture, stirring until it thickens and bubbles form on the surface.
Add 2 oz of dark chocolate chips and mix until melted and smooth.
Lower the heat slightly as the mixture thickens.
In a separate bowl, temper 2 egg yolks by mixing a bit of the thickened mixture into them, then add the tempered yolks back into the chocolate mixture.
Turn off the heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth.
Transfer the chocolate custard to a glass bowl to cool completely.
In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with a little sugar until stiff peaks form.
Fold in 16 oz of mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream until well combined.
Prepare hot chocolate and let it cool.
Quickly dunk lady fingers into the cooled hot chocolate and line them up in a 9x13 baking dish.
Spread half of the mascarpone whipped cream mixture over the soaked lady fingers.
Repeat the process with another layer of soaked lady fingers and then spread the chocolate custard over them.
Add a third layer of soaked lady fingers on top.
Spread the remaining mascarpone whipped cream mixture over the final layer of lady fingers.
Use a vegetable peeler to curl chocolate onto the top of the tiramisu.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
