Fruit preserves provide a similar sweetness and texture.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a mixing bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, butter, and vanilla extract until homogeneous.

Cut the guava paste into cubes.

Separate a bit of the dough mixture and roll it out.

Cut the rolled dough into round pieces and flatten them slightly.

Add a cube of guava paste to the center of each round dough piece.

Place the cookies on a baking tray.

Bake in the oven for around 20 minutes.

Let the cookies cool down before serving.
