Start by heating 3 cups of water in a saucepan.

Add 3 cups of sugar to the water and boil for 25-30 minutes.

Just before removing from heat, add juice of half a lemon to the syrup.

Brush the bottom of a baking sheet with melted butter.

Take one layer of phyllo dough, fold it into two, and brush with butter.

Repeat this process until you have about 25 layers of phyllo dough in the baking sheet.

Chop 250 grams of walnuts into thick pieces and spread them over the phyllo layers.

Optionally, add a small amount of cinnamon to the walnuts.

Continue layering phyllo dough and butter until all layers are used, finishing with a layer of phyllo on top.

Cut the baklava into pieces before baking.

Bake in the oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes.

Once baked, immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava.
