Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Rinse the canned chickpeas in a fine mesh strainer under cold water to remove excess sodium.
Lay the chickpeas out on a clean dish towel and pat dry, folding the edges over and rolling them around to remove moisture.
Transfer the dried chickpeas onto a rimmed baking sheet (quarter sheet pan).
Drizzle 1 tablespoon of avocado oil over the chickpeas.
Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder over the chickpeas.
Spread the chickpeas in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not layered on top of one another.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 30 to 35 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Check for doneness by smell and visual cues; they should be golden brown and crispy.
If they are not crispy, add an extra 5 minutes of cooking time.
Consider adding additional spices after roasting, such as smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, curry powder, or a sweet mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
