Traditionally made with slow-cooked beef, the sandwich is a staple at local eateries and is often served with a side of giardiniera. Today, it has gained popularity across the U.S., often enjoyed at parties and gatherings for its rich flavors and satisfying nature.

Season the chuck roast liberally with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Sear the chuck roast for about 5 minutes on one side until golden brown.
Flip the roast and sear for another 5 minutes until golden brown on the other side.
Transfer the seared roast to a slow cooker.
Add half of the jardinera with all its juice to the slow cooker.
Add pickled banana peppers to the slow cooker.
Pour in beef stock and Italian dressing into the slow cooker.
Optionally, add Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for about 4 hours.
Once cooked, transfer the beef to a plate and shred it with a fork or two forks.
Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and mix it with the juices.
To assemble the sandwich, dunk the inside of a sturdy roll into the broth from the slow cooker.
Add the shredded beef to the roll.
Optionally, add cheese to the bottom of the roll before the beef.
Top the sandwich with reserved jardinera and banana peppers.
