Whole wheat flour offers more nutrients, while all-purpose flour is often less expensive.
Mix the salt and flour in a mixing bowl.
Mix the yeast with the warm water.
Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix appropriately.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour to double in size.
Sprinkle flour on the working surface and cut the dough.
Do not knead the dough; just mix with a spoon.
Fold the dough and cut it into six portions for baguettes.
Rub oil on your hands, flatten out the dough balls, and fold and press to seal.
Cover the shaped dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
Pour water into a baking pan and place it in the base of the oven.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Brush water on the bread to make it crusty.
Sprinkle flour on the bread after brushing with water.
Use a sharp blade to make slits on the bread.
Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes until golden brown.
