Honey adds natural sweetness with a unique flavor.
Add 1 tbsp of flour, 1 tbsp of sugar, and 2 tsp of yeast to a measuring cup, then add milk and mix well.
Let the mixture rise for about 10 minutes until it doubles in size.
Sift 3 cups of flour into a bowl and add 1 tsp of salt.
Separate 3 eggs, adding the yolks to the bowl along with the yeast mixture, 1 tsp of vanilla, 1/2 cup of margarine or melted butter, and 1/3 cup of sugar. Stir well.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a draft-free area for about 2 hours until doubled in size.
For the filling, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tsp of vanilla, and 3 egg whites in a bowl.
Crush 2 cups of walnuts using a hammer and wax paper.
Add 1/2 cup of raisins, 1/4 cup of heavy cream, and 1/4 cup of rum extract to the walnut mixture and stir well.
Add orange zest to the filling mixture.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it in half.
Roll out one half of the dough on a floured surface as thin as possible.
Spread the filling evenly over the rolled dough and roll it tightly.
Place the rolled dough on a greased cookie sheet, pinch the ends, and make a few holes in the top with a sharp knife.
Brush the top with oil or egg white, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 50 minutes.
Once cooled, sprinkle with icing sugar.
