Cut the red cabbage in half and remove the core.
Take away some of the outer leaves and chop the cabbage into fine shredded pieces.
Chop the onion and apple.
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pan.
Add the chopped onion and caramelize it nicely.
Stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and sauté for a few more minutes.
Add the chopped cabbage and half a cup of water to help steam it.
Mix well, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, stir and add another half cup of water and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
Add the whole chopped apple and press one clove of garlic into the pot.
Add a pinch of cumin and 1 tablespoon of caraway seeds, along with salt and pepper to taste.
Stir the mixture well, cover, and cook for another 20 minutes until the liquid has evaporated.
