These fluffy, sweet doughnuts symbolize joy and community, bringing people together over delicious food. Today, they are enjoyed not only in Ghana but also in various West African countries, each adding their unique twist to the recipe.

Coconut oil adds a tropical flavor and is a healthier fat option.

Almond milk reduces calories and is dairy-free.
Crack 4 eggs into a clean mixing bowl and mix until light and well combined.
Add 1 cup of melted margarine and mix well.
Pour in 1 cup of evaporated milk and mix.
Add sugar to taste and vanilla extract, then mix everything together until well combined.
In another bowl, add 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and nutmeg. Mix the dry ingredients together.
Slowly pour the wet mixture into the bowl of flour, mixing gently with a spatula until the consistency is not watery and not too thick.
Set the batter aside for about 2 to 3 minutes to rest.
Pour enough oil into a deep frying pan and heat it on medium heat.
Test the oil by dropping a little bit of the batter; if it rises slowly with bubbles, the oil is ready.
Scoop and drop the batter into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry until golden brown and crispy outside but still soft inside, stirring gently to ensure even cooking.
Remove the donuts and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
