750 gms chicken with bones, large pieces
1.5 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp turmeric
3 medium onions, chopped
1.5 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 cup tomato purée (2 medium tomatoes)
2 small green chillies, chopped
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 cup coriander leaves, chopped
3 tbsp oil
4 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp salt in the tomato gravy

Marinate the chicken pieces with ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, salt, and turmeric.

Chop the onions, green chillies, and coriander leaves.

Purée the tomatoes.

Heat 3 tbsp oil in a frying pan, add the marinated chicken, and fry on high to medium heat for around 5 minutes.

Lower heat and continue to fry for another 10 minutes on medium heat until chicken is half cooked.

Switch off and keep the pan aside.

Heat 4 tbsp of oil in a kadai, add the chopped onions, and fry for around 10 minutes until light brown.

Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes on low heat until the raw smell is gone.

Add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder; mix well and fry for 2-3 minutes on low heat, adding a splash of water to prevent burning.

Add tomato purée, mix, and then add salt.

Add chopped green chillies and cook for around 3-4 minutes.

Transfer the half-fried chicken pieces to the gravy, including all the juices from the pan.

Mix well and bhunno the chicken on medium heat for around 5 minutes until the chicken is coated with the masala and oil separates.

Add a cup of water, mix well, cover, and cook for around 10 minutes until chicken is soft.

Lastly, add garam masala powder, mix, and add chopped coriander leaves. Simmer until done.
