Melt 4 oz of chocolate over a pot of hot boiling water.
Add coconut oil to the melted chocolate and stir constantly to prevent burning.
Let the melted chocolate cool to room temperature.
Sift together all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a bowl.
Add farm fresh eggs and the cooled melted chocolate to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Add vanilla extract and sourdough discard to the mixture and combine, being careful not to over mix.
Grease two pie pans with butter and dust with flour, then add the chocolate cake batter evenly to the pans.
Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for about 30 minutes.
Let the cake cool for about 12 hours to overnight before frosting.
For frosting, melt 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate over boiling water, then mix with powdered sugar and cream until thick.
Frost the cooled cakes, stacking them and decorating as desired.
