2 cups zapallo (pumpkin)
3 tablespoons manteca (butter)
1 teaspoon salt

Boil a piece of zapallo (pumpkin) until soft.

Mash the cooked zapallo with a fork until well crushed.

In a bowl, combine the mashed zapallo with 3 tablespoons of manteca and a small cup of hot water.

Dissolve the manteca in the hot water.

Add salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon).

In a mixing bowl, combine the zapallo mixture with flour (3-4 cups).

Mix well with your hands until the dough is well combined and not sticky.

If the dough is still sticky, gradually add more flour while kneading.

Once the dough is ready, dust a surface with flour and roll out the dough.

Use a cup to cut out shapes from the rolled-out dough.

Place the cut-out shapes on a floured tray while heating oil in a pan.

Fry the sopaipillas in hot oil until golden brown.
