1 pound Jimmy Dean's hot sausage
2 cups parboiled rice
1/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/4 teaspoon rubbing sage
3 tablespoons parsley flakes
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
2 pinches thyme
1/4 cup butter
1 medium onion
1

Brown 1 pound of hot sausage in a hot skillet and remove the fat once browned.

2

Add 1/4 cup of butter and 1 medium chopped onion to the skillet, sauté until the onions are translucent with a little brown on the edges.

3

Add 2 cups of parboiled rice to the skillet and sauté until the tips of the rice are browned.

4

Add 3 tablespoons of parsley flakes, 1 tablespoon of granulated garlic, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of ground red pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of rubbing sage, and 2 pinches of thyme to the rice mixture and stir to combine.

5

Dissolve 1 chicken base in 1/4 cup of water and add it to the rice mixture.

6

Scrape the bottom of the pan to release browned bits from the sausage and onions.

7

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover with a tight-fitting lid and reduce heat to low.

8

Cook for 20 to 25 minutes without lifting the lid.

9

After cooking, stir the rice to mix the sausage and parsley throughout.

10

Serve or store in a casserole dish with a lid or foil, and freeze if not using immediately.
