Bring a pot of water to a boil.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.
Add the spaghetti to the pot and allow it to cook for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the pasta from the heat and rinse with cold water.
Set the pasta aside until later.
Using medium heat, bring your pan to temperature.
Add the ground beef to the pan.
Add the onion and garlic to the pan and cook until the ground beef has browned.
Drain off the excess fat from the beef.
Season the beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, and mix well.
Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to the beef and mix well.
Add the tomato paste and diced tomatoes, then mix until well incorporated.
Season the sauce with basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
Add the bay leaves and mix until well incorporated.
Bring the sauce to a light simmer and reduce the heat.
Cover the sauce and allow it to cook for one hour, stirring frequently.
