Soak split yellow lentils in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
Drain the lentils and blend with water to a smooth batter.
Add ginger, green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, and onion to the batter.
Season with salt, turmeric powder, and cumin seeds; mix well.
Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan, spreading it into a circle.
Cook until the edges lift and the bottom is golden, about 3-4 minutes.
Flip the cheela and cook the other side until golden, about 2-3 minutes.
Remove from the pan and keep warm while cooking the remaining batter.
Serve hot with lemon juice, chutney, or yogurt.
