1

Take a large pot, using a Dutch oven, and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

2

Heat the oil over medium heat.

3

When the oil is hot, add in 1 minced yellow onion and 1 minced head of garlic, sauté for five minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.

4

Add in 1 pound of ground beef and sauté while breaking up the pieces until the beef is well ground, about five minutes.

5

Add in 1/4 cup of minced carrots, 1/4 cup of minced red bell pepper, and 1 pound of sliced Filipino style hot dogs, continue to sauté and brown the hot dogs for another minute.

6

Add in 1 cup of beef broth, 1 15-ounce can of tomato sauce, 1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar, 1 12-fluid ounce can of evaporated milk, and 1 cup of banana ketchup, mix until well combined and let it come to a simmer.

7

Once it starts to simmer, turn the heat down to medium low and continue to simmer uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent solid pieces from getting stuck to the bottom.

8

While the sauce is simmering, heat water in a large pot for boiling the spaghetti pasta, add plenty of salt and a bit of olive oil.

9

Once the water starts to boil, add in 1 pound of uncooked dry spaghetti noodles and cook according to packet instructions for about 10 minutes to achieve an al dente texture.

10

Drain the noodles and set them aside.

11

When the sauce is done, taste and add salt and pepper to taste, usually about half a teaspoon of ground black pepper and half a teaspoon of table salt, mixing well.

12

To serve, add cooked spaghetti noodles to a plate, ladle spaghetti sauce over it, and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

13

For leftovers, combine the noodles and the spaghetti sauce in a large mixing bowl to prevent the pasta from drying up and sticking together.
