1 cup washed red lentils
2.5 cups water
1 tablespoon butter

Fry the onions in about a tablespoon of butter and set aside.

Add 1 cup of washed lentils and 2.5 cups of water along with a piece of ginger and boil until the lentils are completely soft.

Remove the piece of ginger and stir in sugar, mixing for a minute.

Add the fried onions and leftover butter, stirring periodically.

Cook on medium flame until more water evaporates and the mixture starts to thicken.

Add ground cardamom powder, cinnamon, and rosewater, cooking for about two more minutes.

Remove from heat and pour the pudding into a dish to cool and set before serving.
