Broad Bean Idli

Cultural Context

Originating from the southern regions of India, Idli is a staple breakfast dish made from fermented rice and lentil batter. The addition of broad beans enhances its nutritional profile and flavor, making it a seasonal delicacy during the harvest of these beans. Idli is traditionally served with a variety of chutneys and sambar, reflecting the diverse culinary practices of Indian households. Today, it has gained popularity beyond India, often enjoyed by health-conscious eaters for its light and fluffy texture.
