1

Chop onion and garlic.

2

Heat a large pot over medium-high heat.

3

Add salted boiling water for the spaghetti.

4

Add spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package directions for 10-11 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent clumping.

5

Turn off the stove after cooking the spaghetti and drain it.

6

In a large stock pot, add 2 cans of tomato sauce and 1 can of tomato paste.

7

Add 1 can of petite diced tomatoes with juice to the stock pot.

8

Stir in 2 teaspoons of basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 3/4 teaspoon of pepper.

9

Turn the stove back on to just below high and stir to bring to a boil.

10

Reduce the heat to a simmer and let it cook for 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

11

If you prefer a thinner sauce, add another can of sauce and adjust the heat as necessary.

12

Move the pot to the back burner on medium-low heat, keeping an eye on it to ensure it bubbles.

13

Optionally, place a lid halfway on the pot to reduce splatter.
