Add 3 dried red chilies and enough water to soak for half an hour.

Add the chopped ginger, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp salt, and a pinch of asafoetida, and blend without water initially.

Then gradually add water to blend until smooth.

Transfer the batter to a bowl and adjust the consistency to be slightly thick, if necessary.

Heat a skillet and pour a ladle of batter, spreading it slowly.
