2

Sprinkle flour on work surface and sprinkle a bit of flour on the puff pastry sheet.

3

Flatten dough out with a rolling pin.

4

Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and sprinkle with granulated sugar to taste. Poke holes using a fork, across the entire puff pastry sheet to keep it from rising too much.

5

Bake at 400F degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

6

Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

7

Cut into uniform rectangles.

8

Place milk and ¼ cup sugar in a saucepan and begin to simmer.

9

Mix cornstarch and 1/3 cup sugar in a mixing bowl.

Beat egg yolks and large egg and add to cornstarch mixture.

Slowly add milk mixture to egg mixture and whisk constantly. Place back in saucepan and return to heat until it boils.

12

Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until fully cooled.

13

To assemble one Milhojas cake, place cream layer on two rectangles, then stack with a plain rectangle on top, using a total of 3 rectangles for a single serving.
