Add yeast to warm water and set aside to activate.
After 10 minutes, add warm milk, melted butter, sugar, salt, grated lemon zest, and vanilla essence to the yeast mixture and mix well.
Add flour to the mixture and combine to form a dough.
If the dough is too sticky, add a tiny bit of flour to correct the consistency.
Knead the dough for 12 to 15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into individual pieces, rolling them into balls.
Cover the formed balls and let them rest for another 35 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the rolls for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and brush with margarine before serving.
