Prepare a glass of milk (200 ml) and a glass of water (200 ml).
Add 50 ml of sunflower oil to the milk and water mixture.
Dissolve 50 grams of sugar and 25 grams of fresh yeast in the warm milk and water mixture.
Add the egg whites to the mixture, keeping the yolks aside for later use on top.
Slowly add the flour (660 grams) and 1 teaspoon of salt to the mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough by hand until it becomes soft and slightly sticky, adding more milk if necessary to achieve the right consistency.
Cover the dough with a lid and let it rise for 20-25 minutes until it has doubled in size.
Grease the work surface and your hands with oil to prevent sticking.
Remove the dough from the bowl and gently knead it to release air.
Flatten the dough by hand to about 1 cm thick, forming a square shape.
Spread softened butter (120 grams) evenly over the flattened dough.
Fold the dough in half and then fold again, applying more butter if necessary.
Cut the dough into strips using a pizza cutter or knife.
Take each strip, fold it in half, and twist it to form a pretzel shape.
Place the formed pretzels on a baking tray and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) with both top and bottom heat settings.
