1

Put the cheese spread in a deep bowl.

2

To this, add the grated mozzarella cheese. The reason for adding 2 types of cheeses is that the cheese spread gives creaminess while mozzarella gives the stringy texture.

3

Now add the finely chopped black olives. You can even cut them into slices but finely chopped olives are easier to spread on toast.

4

Now add the finely chopped jalapenos. We have used the pickled jalapenos as the fresh ones would be very spicy. Both olives and jalapenos add a salty, sour taste to the toast.

5

Add the mixed dried herbs. This is a prepacked mix sold which contains dried oregano, parsley, rosemary and thyme.

6

Finally add the milk and salt.

7

Mix well with a spoon till everything is evenly incorporated. Keep aside.

8

Grease the baking tray with a little butter.

9

Spread 1/2 tsp of butter on each bread slice and place it on the baking tray, with the buttered side facing upwards.

10

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 10 minutes or till they turn crisp.

11

Turn over the bread slices and spread little mixture evenly over each slice.

12

Bake the slices again in a pre-heated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15 minutes.

13

Serve immediately as an evening snack with tomato ketchup or as an accompaniment with pasta dishes like Pasta Genovese.
