Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan or baking dish.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
For Banana Foster, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Add brown sugar and rum, stirring until dissolved.
Slice bananas and add to the skillet, cooking until caramelized, about 2-3 minutes.
Serve warm over ice cream or pancakes.
