Katahar Curry

Cultural Context

Katahar Curry, made from raw jackfruit, is a beloved dish in Indian cuisine, particularly in the southern and eastern regions. Jackfruit is often referred to as a 'vegetable meat' due to its texture and ability to absorb flavors. This curry is a staple during the monsoon season and is often served with rice or roti. In modern times, it has gained popularity among vegans and vegetarians as a meat substitute, showcasing the versatility of this tropical fruit.
