5 or 6 cloves garlic
pimento seed
400 ml coconut milk
1.5 tablespoons ginger
thyme

basmati rice

Soak the peas overnight and use the same water to cook them.

Add about 2 cups of water to the peas and add 5 or 6 cloves of garlic and some pimento seed.

Cover and cook until the peas are soft and some have burst.

Add 400 ml of coconut milk to the cooked peas.

Chop and add 1.5 tablespoons of ginger, scallion, thyme, and salt to taste.

Stir the mixture and bring it to a boil.

Wash the basmati rice until the water runs clear and add it to the pot.

Add a total of about 3 or 4 cups of water and stir it in.

Cover and allow it to cook on medium to low heat until the rice is cooked through.

Stir the rice to evenly distribute it and cover for an additional 5 minutes if needed.
