Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons black tea leaves
  • 1 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  2. 2Add the black tea leaves to the boiling water and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. 3Stir in the ground ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper.
  4. 4Add sugar to the mixture and stir until dissolved.
  5. 5Pour in the milk and bring the mixture back to a boil.
  6. 6Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. 7Strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the tea leaves and spices.
  8. 8Serve hot and enjoy your chai tea.
