Olive oil adds flavor with less saturated fat.

Place a pot of water on the heat and cover it.

Measure 3 cups of long rice using a 400g Tomato can and place it in a bowl.

Wash the rice 3 to 4 times until the water runs clear, then drain the water completely.

Transfer the washed rice into the pot of boiling water to parboil it, stirring to combine.

Once boiling, allow the rice to boil for about 3 minutes, then transfer to a strainer to drain the starch water.

Rinse the pot thoroughly and set it aside.

Rinse the rice until there is no white water coming from it, then place the strainer over a bowl to keep draining.

Transfer the clean pot back onto the heat and add 1,000 ml of water and 1.5 tbsp of salt, stirring to combine.

Add the boiled rice into the pot and add an extra 100 ml of water, making a total of 1,100 ml of water.

Cover the pot and cook on high to medium heat, avoiding low heat to prevent mushy rice.

Before the water fully dries, test the rice for doneness.

Once the rice is cooked and the water is dry, remove from heat.
