This comforting dish symbolizes the heartiness of home-cooked meals, utilizing leftover meat and vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes. Today, it enjoys global popularity, with variations that include different meats and toppings, making it a versatile favorite for family dinners and gatherings.

Rub beef shank with garlic butter and smother with roasted garlic.
Season the beef with Spice House seasoning.
Sear the beef on the grill until it gets a nice color.
In a pot, combine chopped onions, Garden Tomatoes, carrots, peas, and mushrooms.
Add white wine to the pot, ensuring to use a wine you enjoy drinking.
Pour in about 2 cups of beef stock to cover the vegetables.
Insulate the pot with aluminum foil and place it in the oven to cook low and slow.
Prepare the pie crust by placing mashed potatoes in a pastry bag.
Line the inside of a flipped over tart pan or pie pan with the mashed potatoes, ensuring the sides are touching.
Heat oil to 375°F and fry the mashed potato shell until it starts cooking immediately.
Swirl mashed potatoes over the bottom of the potato pie shell to combine crispy and creamy textures.
Create a jagged design on the top of the mashed potatoes with a spoon and cut a hole in the center.
Cover the bottom of the pie shell with gravy from the stew.
Place the seared beef shank on top of the gravy in the pie shell.
Fill the hole in the beef shank with more gravy.
Add the roasted vegetables from the pot and sprinkle with chives.
