Grate the two pieces of bread to make breadcrumbs.
Grate the onion (you can use a food processor if you have one).
In a bowl, combine 1/2 to 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs, 1.5 tablespoons of flour, and 1/2 cup of milk.
Add salt and black pepper to the mixture and stir to moisten the breadcrumbs.
Let the breadcrumb mixture soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine about 1 pound of ground pork and 1 pound of ground beef.
Add 2 eggs and the grated onion (juice included) to the meat mixture.
Add the soaked breadcrumb mixture to the meat mixture.
Mix everything together with a spoon or your hands until well combined, adjusting with milk and breadcrumbs as needed.
Form the meat mixture into flattened egg-shaped patties using your hands.
In a skillet, coat the bottom with oil and add about 2 tablespoons of butter, heating it over medium to medium-high heat.
Fry the patties for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through, adjusting the heat as necessary.
Continue cooking in batches until all the meat mixture is used up.
