Today, they have gained global popularity, often found in bakeries around the world, with countless variations reflecting local tastes and ingredients.

Unpackage the puffed pastry sheets.
Unroll the pastry sheets on a clean surface.
Mix 100 g of sugar and 30 g of cinnamon in a bowl until combined.
Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the pastry.
Add sultanas on top of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, spreading them evenly.
Make a small incision along the edge of the pastry to help with rolling.
Roll the pastry up tightly from one end to the other, using the backing paper to assist if needed.
Seal the edge of the rolled pastry with a little water or egg wash.
Trim any uneven edges from the rolled pastry.
Cut the rolled pastry into slices to create spirals.
Place the spirals on a baking tray, leaving space between them for expansion.
Sprinkle any remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the spirals before baking.
Preheat the oven to gas mark 6 (approximately 400°F or 200°C).
Bake the pastries for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
