Preheat grill to 450 degrees.
Press thumbs into the center of each burger patty to prevent swelling.
Season both sides of the patties with garlic salt and black pepper.
Spread garlic butter on both sides of the hamburger buns.
Place cherry tomatoes in a vegetable grill pan and top with remaining garlic butter.
Toss the tomatoes to coat them in the garlic butter.
Grill the patties for a couple of minutes without flipping them.
Flip the patties once and add the roasted tomatoes to the grill.
Keep the tomatoes moving constantly on the grill until they start to burst and pop.
Check the burger temperature; aim for 165 degrees for safety, but prefer medium at 130 degrees.
Add mozzarella cheese on top of the patties and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Toast the garlic buttered buns on the grill quickly.
Assemble the burgers with the grilled patties, roasted tomatoes, and fresh basil.
