Originating from Egypt, Om Ali is a traditional dessert that embodies the rich culinary heritage of the region. Named after a legendary figure, it is often enjoyed during festive occasions and gatherings. Today, this beloved dish has found its way into many Middle Eastern and North African cuisines, celebrated for its comforting flavors and textures.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare a baking dish by greasing it with butter.
Bake puff pastry sheets until golden and crispy, about 15-20 minutes.
Remove the pastry from the oven and let it cool slightly.
Break the baked pastry into bite-sized pieces and layer them in the prepared baking dish.
In a saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer, stirring occasionally.
Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the milk mixture and stir well.
Pour the hot milk mixture evenly over the pastry pieces in the baking dish.
Sprinkle raisins, almonds, coconut flakes, and pistachios on top.
Melt butter and drizzle it over the top of the dish.
Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and the mixture is bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve warm, optionally with additional cream or nuts on top.
