Egyptian Style Beef Shawarma Sandwich

Shawarma is a popular street food originating from the Middle East, with Egypt having its own distinct take. Traditionally made with marinated meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie, it reflects the region's rich culinary heritage. In Egypt, shawarma is often enjoyed as a quick meal or snack, served in pita bread with fresh vegetables and sauces. Today, its popularity has spread globally, inspiring countless variations and adaptations.

Yogurt sauce is lighter and hummus is budget-friendly.
Season the beef with beef seasoning, salt, black pepper, paprika powder, and blended yellow pepper, then mix everything together.
Squeeze lemon juice into the meat to tenderize it, then add oil and mix again.
Allow the meat to marinate for about 3 to 5 hours.
Transfer the marinated meat to an air fryer and cook for about 35 minutes.
While the meat is air frying, prepare the shawama sauce by mixing honey, black pepper, ketchup, mayonnaise, paprika powder, and the remaining lemon juice in a bowl to create a pink sauce.
Set the sauce aside and prepare the vegetables by shredding purple cabbage, white cabbage, lettuce, and carrots.
Prep one hot dog by seasoning it with black pepper and frying it on a grill pan.
Once the beef is cooked and tender, cut it into small bite-sized pieces.
In a bowl, combine the beef, vegetables, and shawama sauce, and mix everything together.
Take a pre-made shawama wrap, apply some shawama sauce to act as glue, add the mixture in the middle, and include the hot dog before wrapping it up.
Transfer the assembled shawama to a grill pan and grill on both sides until grill marks appear.
Wrap the finished shawama in foil for later enjoyment.
