Cultural Context

Curanto en Olla is a traditional dish from the Chiloé Archipelago in Chile, rooted in indigenous Mapuche cooking methods. This communal meal showcases the region's rich seafood and agricultural bounty, often prepared for gatherings and celebrations. While the original curanto was cooked in a pit, the olla version allows for easier preparation while retaining the essence of the dish. Today, it is enjoyed throughout Chile and has inspired variations in other countries, celebrating its hearty and flavorful nature.
