Traditionally served during special occasions and celebrations, it features crispy layers of vermicelli noodles soaked in sweet syrup, often garnished with nuts. Today, variations abound, with many enjoying it with different fillings and toppings, making it a versatile treat enjoyed across cultures.

Prepare the dough by mixing all-purpose flour, corn starch, salt, cooking oil, and water until a smooth dough forms.
Roll out the dough thinly and cut into sheets.
Melt unsalted butter and brush it on a baking dish.
Layer the dough sheets in the baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
Spread mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough layers.
Cover with more dough sheets, brushing each layer with butter.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 30 minutes until golden brown.
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water for the syrup, bringing it to a boil.
Add vanilla essence to the syrup and simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
Once the kunefe is baked, pour the syrup over it immediately and allow it to soak before serving.
