Boil 500 ml of filtered water in a pot.

Let the water boil, then allow it to cool slightly to about 90 degrees Celsius.

Add 1 tablespoon of loose mate tea leaves to the water.

Let the tea steep for 10 minutes.

Strain the tea into a pitcher and let it cool to room temperature.

Refrigerate the tea for about 3 hours until chilled.

In a blender, combine the chilled tea, 1.5 medium limes, and 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Blend for about 1 minute.

Pour the mixture into a tall glass over 6-8 ice cubes.

Garnish with a slice of lime.
