Butter Burger

1 lb ground beef
4 tbsp unsalted butter
4 hamburger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup lettuce, shredded
1 tomato, sliced
1/2 onion, sliced

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper until just combined.

Divide the beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty.

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side.

Flip the patties and place 1 tablespoon of butter on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Spread mayonnaise and ketchup on the bottom half of each bun.

Once the burgers are done, place each patty on the prepared buns.

Top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and onion slices. Cover with the top half of the bun.
