Start with 2 lbs of ground beef in a large pot and brown it.

Add about half of a chopped onion and a couple of spoonfuls of garlic to the pot while the meat is browning.

Brown the ground beef fully, draining excess grease if necessary.

Open 3 cans of fire roasted diced tomatoes and 3 cans of chili beans in chili sauce, but do not add them yet.

Once the beef is browned, add the cans of beans and tomatoes to the pot and stir well.

Add 1.5-2 tablespoons of sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the mixture, stirring to combine.

Add the entire jar of chili sauce to the pot and stir.

Simmer the chili for about an hour, tasting and adjusting seasonings as needed, including optional Tabasco sauce.
