Popovers are a classic American dish, derived from the English Yorkshire pudding. They are light, airy rolls that are often served as a side dish during meals, particularly in the United States. Their unique texture is achieved by baking a simple batter in a hot oven, which causes them to puff up dramatically. Popovers can be enjoyed plain or filled with sweet or savory fillings, making them versatile for various occasions.
all-purpose flour

Preheat the oven to 450°F.
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk with 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
Sift 1 cup of flour and add it to the warm milk and butter mixture along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Spray the popover or large muffin tins with cooking spray.
Add 4 eggs to the mixture one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix until the batter is the consistency of heavy cream.
Fill the muffin tins three-quarters full with the batter.
Bake in the preheated oven at 450°F for 12 to 15 minutes without opening the door.
Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes without opening the door.
If a crisper popover is desired, bake for an additional 5 minutes and cut the side to release steam.
