Add 1/4 cup of bourbon or rye to a mixing glass.

Add 1 part simple syrup and 1 part lemon juice to the mixing glass.

Add about 2 tablespoons of egg white to the mixing glass.

Perform a dry shake (shake without ice) to foam the mixture.

Add ice to the mixing glass and shake again until well chilled.
